You can "Spruce Up" any bookcase! For this one, I just painted the cardboard back a turquoise blue, then stenciled a "damask" pattern in a white and nailed the back on. Easy peasy!
I would love to do another one with a toile fabric added to the back. I have never done this, but I heard it was very easy!

I love this. I could see a "lacy" stenciled back.

Oh my goodness, Ms. Bingle, that is gorgeous! You did a smashing job. You can come to my house and do that for my IKEA bookshelf, if you'd like :)

The blue looks wonderful! Great job!
Fun idea, it really dressed up the book shelf! I can't wait to give some book shelves at home a simular treatment
It looks so cute and pretty, bravo:))

Wow- Look what a little stenciling and paint can do. This looks like an expensive piece of furniture with all your antique cups and silver pieces on its shelves. Terrific job!
Oh this is adorable--I bet you're so excited! Wow, you take on some amazing projects--you go girl! I love it all!

Please email me your address so i can send you my own handmade slice faux cake.
This is just gorgeous! I thought for sure that it was wallpaper. Even more impressive knowing that you stenciled it! I have used toile to back a little curio cabinet, I just used some spray mount adhesive to adhere it. It would look fabulous to add to a bookcase as well!
What a great joy you did! You make it look "easy peasy". I love the last picture with all of the vintage shiny colors in the glass jar. *hugs*
I have some GORGEOUS vintage wallpaper that I think I will use either on my bookcases (perhaps) or on some smaller pieces I have to line the backs. I've been hoarding it and it is time to get it out and display it without having to paper an actual wall.
We'll see how it goes. hope it is as beautiful as your's turned out.
